The models and methods described in both this Wiki and our book were first developed in 1987 for a consulting project up in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay Alaska - where the "Performance Tests" developed were linked to a Pay Progression Program for just under 20 technical populations.
In that first effort we and our staff and a few subcontractors systematically developed over 2000 high priority Performance Tests with handpicked Master Performers focused on the critical aspects of their performance in critical, complex processes in a dangerous environment.
We first wrote about that effort in our SWI - Svenson & Wallace Inc. "Management Update" Fall 1988 Newsletter.
